WHAT TO EXPECT
Your appetite may change
One of the first things many people notice is a change in appetite or feeling fuller sooner. You may also notice that you’re thinking about food less than you used to.
Your appetite can vary throughout the week and may change as your treatment progresses, so don’t worry if every day doesn’t feel exactly the same.
Progress isn’t always linear
There will probably be weeks where you lose, weeks where very little happens and occasionally weeks where the scales go up. That doesn’t automatically mean you’ve stopped making progress.
Water retention, digestion, hormones and other everyday factors can affect your weight, which is why it’s useful to look at your overall trend rather than one weigh-in.
Your body can change when the scales don’t
This is a BIG one. You can lose inches and notice changes in your body shape even during periods when your weight isn’t moving very much.
Take the photos. 📸
Even if you don’t love taking them at the beginning, you may be incredibly grateful for them later. Use your Nano Progress Tracker to keep your progress photos, weight and measurements together so you can look back and actually see how far you’ve come.
You may experience side effects
Some people experience symptoms such as nausea, constipation, headaches or tiredness, particularly while adjusting to treatment. Rather than trying to remember how you felt weeks later, use the Symptoms Tracker to record what’s happening and see whether any patterns develop.
If you experience severe, persistent or worrying symptoms, always contact your healthcare provider.
WHAT SHOULD YOU TRACK?
You don’t need to obsess over every number. Tracking is simply a way of understanding your own journey better.
Nano Tracker lets you keep things such as your medication, injection sites, symptoms, mood, food noise, nutrition, hydration, weight, measurements and progress photos together in one place. Over time, those little pieces of information can help you see patterns that are difficult to notice day to day.
TIPS FOR YOUR JOURNEY
📸 Take progress photos
Don’t judge your progress by the scales alone. Take photos from the front, side and back and repeat them regularly. Sometimes comparing two photographs tells you far more than a number ever could. That’s exactly why progress photos are a feature in Nano Tracker.
🥗 Focus on what you’re eating
A reduced appetite doesn’t necessarily mean nutrition stops mattering, if anything making the food you do eat count becomes even more important. Choose filling, nutritious foods and try to include a good source of protein.
🥤 Watch the liquid calories
This is one people often forget. Fancy coffees, juices, smoothies, soft drinks and alcohol can contain more calories than you realise and because you’re drinking rather than eating them, they’re easy to overlook.
Use the Nano Food Scanner to scan barcodes and quickly view nutritional information to help you understand what’s actually in the things you’re consuming.
💧 Remember your water
When you’re eating less, it can be surprisingly easy to drink less too. Keep an eye on your fluids and use the Hydration Tracker if you need a little reminder throughout the day.
💉 Rotate your injection sites
Try not to automatically choose exactly the same place every time. Use the Injection Site Tracker to record where you injected and rate the site afterwards, giving you a history you can refer back to.
📝 Track how you actually feel
Don’t rely on memory. Food noise, appetite, mood and symptoms can all fluctuate. Logging them regularly gives you something to look back on and can help you identify your own patterns.
🏋️ Don’t forget about strength
Your goal shouldn’t only be to see a smaller number on the scales. Staying active and including resistance or strength-based exercise where appropriate can be an important part of looking after yourself while losing weight.
You’ll find workouts and exercise ideas inside Nano Tracker to help you keep moving.
🚽 Don’t ignore constipation
Constipation can happen for some people using GLP-1 medication. Staying hydrated, getting enough fibre and keeping active may help. If constipation becomes persistent, painful or concerning, speak to your healthcare provider.
⚖️ Don’t let one weigh-in ruin your week
Your weight naturally fluctuates. If the scales suddenly go up, look at the bigger picture before assuming something has gone wrong.
Check your progress photos, measurements and overall weight trend instead.
YOU’RE NOT DOING THIS ALONE 💜
GLP-1 treatment isn’t something everybody feels comfortable talking about. That can sometimes make the journey feel surprisingly lonely, especially when the people around you don’t fully understand what you’re experiencing.
That’s why Nano Tribe is part of Nano Tracker, it’s a space to connect, share experiences and talk to other people going through their own journeys.
FINALLY…
Don’t spend your entire journey waiting for the final number before allowing yourself to feel proud. Celebrate the clothes fitting differently, celebrate feeling stronger, celebrate choosing something that makes you feel good, celebrate the photo where you suddenly see the difference, celebrate the little milestones too.
Your journey is so much more than a number on the scales.
Track it, understand it and remember to look back at how far you’ve already come. 💜
